<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Believe it or not, there is some hard evidence that proves that this is not only possible, but that it happens every day to people just like you and me.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Ask any <strong>successful entrepreneur</strong> about what they do, and you’ll see a <em>sparkle in their eyes </em>reflecting the passion they have for their business.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Well, it’s exactly the same for blogging. It’s really important that your motivation comes from a place deep inside of you, a place where you keep those secret ideals for what you really want to do with your life. And these are the things you are truly passionate about.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">The major problem here is that most people <strong>don’t know what they want to do with their lives </strong>or what they are truly passionate about. The thing is, so many of us have been conditioned into a certain way of thinking during our schooling years.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">And if you’re lucky, after a while, you realize that you’ve simply followed the crowd, and do what everyone else is doing, or telling you what to do.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">The fact is, about <strong>3% of the worlds population controls about 90% of the world’s resources</strong>. That means that “the crowd” does not always know what’s best. And to be able to excel in anything you really need to do something that’s different.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">You need to do something that <strong>stands out from the crowd</strong>.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">So, let’s look at some really quick ways of how to re-discover what you’re truly passionate about.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">To help you understand and uncover what you’re true passions are, you can ask yourself these questions (I recommend you write all the answers down. It will make this exercise a whole lot more useful):</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">• What are the 50 things in life you most enjoy doing? (Don’t stop until you have at least 50 things listed).</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">• <strong>What do people say that you’re naturally good at? That is, what do people tend to give you compliments on without you even expecting it?</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">• What things do you normally excel in without it seeming to be much effort at all?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">• <strong>What things, when you do them, you totally lose track of time, and before you know it, a few hours have gone past without you even realising it?</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">• What topics can you talk to someone else about for hours on end without getting tired or bored of it?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">• <strong>What kind of topics do you like researching or finding out about more,without being forced to do it?</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">• What do you think your natural talents are?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">• <strong>What topic do you think you could write about every day, knowing that there will be no reward?</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">• These are but a few questions to help you get started. And that’s all you should see them as&#8230;a starting point.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Finding out what you’re truly passionate about could sometimes take a few weeks, months or even years. What I’ve found so far with myself, is that it’s an ongoing process, and as time goes by, I try to hone in further and further into the things that I’m naturally good at and enjoy doing.</span></p>

But the truth is, I’m operating under cover; my real identity is SuperMom to a brood of four rowdy children (including my two bonus sons).</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">I’m actually not that “super,” but I’m most certainly Mom, first and foremost. It’s a busy, messy, loud, hectic, demanding, and unbelievably rewarding job. Each of my children have taught me valuable lessons that have informed all aspects of my life. Because of my kids, I am a better human being—and definitely a more effective professional.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">There is a lot of crossover in my life—my work blends into my mom-related duties, and vice versa. My children have taught me a lot about blogging, writing, social media, and content marketing strategy (albeit an inadvertent effort on their part).</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Hopefully these five epic blogging lessons, learned from parenting 4 rowdy children, will help you to gain traction and grow your online presence.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Between gymnastic lessons, wrestling practice, soccer games, martial arts events, school carpools, doctor appointments, and parent-teacher interviews, it goes without saying that my head would explode if I didn’t stick (as close as I can) to a schedule.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">And forget about my sanity; my children thrive with a routine.</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Takeaway</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Similarly, you will create a sense of momentum with your blog if you settle into a routine—and you can incorporate this fundamental discipline in a variety of ways.  For instance, you’ll want to:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">•    Map out an editorial calendar and write your posts predictably. Choose 1 or 2 days, the same days, to write your blog posts. Let’s say for example, Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. Not only will you be more productive, your readers will come to appreciate your routine and will know when to visit your site for new content.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">•    Plan your blogging time strategically—make sure to budget time for writing, reading, commenting and social media.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">•    Work your blogging priorities into the rest of your daily schedule. Don’t forget to leave time for personal interests and priorities and other work-related responsibilities.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">It took me a while to settle into a predictable routine (heck, life’s rarely predictable with four children).  But going through these motions helped me to be much more productive and focused as a mom, business consultant,  and a writer.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;"><strong>2. Know your audience</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">I often have to tailor my parenting style to the unique interests of the specific child I am addressing.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">One of my kids will follow instructions only if we make eye contact and I resort to taking things away as a consequence of not following rules….and bribery. One of my sons, on the other hand, needs a lot of handholding and coddling, no matter the circumstance. And one child will do pretty much anything as long as it involves hot chocolate.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;"><strong>Takeaway</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Your blog readers will invariably share certain qualities and it’s important to know what those are; but remember that they also have unique interests. Segment your target market accordingly and be flexible in your style to accommodate their needs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">For instance, on my blog, I’m essentially appealing to three different target markets:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">•    Entreprenuers and Independent Business Owners</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">•     Current and aspiring bloggers</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">•    c-level and marketing executives</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">All three groups are interested in learning more about content marketing strategy.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">But I tweak my focus, depending on which group is on my radar.  When I’m speaking to the first group, </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">I might write about landing blog consulting clients, setting your fees and injecting personality into your writing.  But the second group, by contrast, is more interested in how to leverage the impact of social media to drive your content marketing campaign.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Same overarching intention, but a personalized and targeted approach based on the reader’s unique needs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;"><strong>3. Get social</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">There is nothing my kids appreciate more than lively conversation around the dinner table, family game night, or a spontaneous adventure. The deeper the interaction, the more impactful. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Mommy time trumps iPods, computer games, and the latest, must-have fashion accessory without fail.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">And while my time is certainly limited, I seek out opportunities to engage with each child in a meaningful way.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;"><strong>Takeaway</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">You may have the most phenomenal content on your <a href="http://syewells.com/ProDesign" style=""  rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://syewells.com/ProDesign';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">blog</a>, but if you aren’t getting social, it’s a big fat waste of time!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Blogging is a big time suck, and it can be very hectic and overwhelming.  But starting now, every day, make sure that you:</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">•    take time to comment on other people’s blogs</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">•    cultivate relationships with prolific bloggers and industry experts</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">•    leverage the benefits of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and <a href="http://syewells.com/pinterest" target="_blank">Pinterest</a>.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">And most importantly, be authentic in your interaction.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">I know what I’m talking about here.  Some of the best professional contacts that I’ve forged have been on Twitter.  It sounds ridiculous, but it’s 100% true. I was invited into a Mastermind group on Twitter; I was approached by someone on Twitter to edit an ebook; and I found a genius WordPress programmer to add to my team on Twitter who solved some very troubling issues on my blog and saved me a small fortune. So don’t underestimate the importance of social.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;"><strong>4. Don’t lose sight of the bigger picture</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Some days, I feel that my time is entirely consumed with meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping, carpooling—with some hysterics thrown in for good measure.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">On those days, I have to remind myself that the time I invest in menial (and sometimes unpleasant) parenting tasks fuels the bigger picture payoff. Hopefully, because of my efforts, my children will emerge happy, secure, and confident with a sense that they can always rely on their Mom.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;"><strong>Takeaway</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Blogging can be an exhausting, tedious, and slow process.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">You have to do the grunt work if you’re going to reap the bigger picture benefits. Write often; read even more often; solicit feedback; invest in your blog’s design; learn how to optimize your site … do it all over again.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">At first, it was hard for me to see the forest for the trees; my blogging experience seemed entirely mired in minutiae.  So I started to keep a journal—to track my progress from month to month, noting my higher level achievements so that I could have those in mind when I felt discouraged.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">If you’re feeling overwhelmed, try keeping a journal so that you can maintain better perspective and not lose sight of the bigger picture.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;"><strong>5. Keep an open mind</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Sometimes, no matter how well organized I am, irrespective of how much I’ve considered my children’s unique needs, and even with a perfectly planned schedule and a bigger picture focus, the stars misalign and my efforts are in vain.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Woody Allen once joked that if you want to see God laugh, tell him your plans. Things are bound to go awry with children, and with blogging!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;"><strong>Takeaway</strong></span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Keep an open mind. Blogging is a journey (much like any entrepreneurial pursuit) and you learn along the way.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">•    Plans transform.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">•    Resources shrink or grow.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">•    Goals evolve.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">You need to be flexible and adapt to changes.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">I’ve encountered this reality first-hand in a dramatic way.  After six months of blogging, my readership and subscriber base had skyrocketed. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">I had faithfully cultivated relationships with other bloggers and using social media. I had great traction. But when my friend and mentor Rich S.,  recommended that I redo my site and position myself differently, to align my offline business and my online brand. It was tough advice to hear, but I very seriously considered his point of view, and after some strategic thinking, my old blog is no longer.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">Poof.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">But my <a href="http://syewells.com" target="_blank">new blog</a> rocks even more than my old one. And making this transition required a very open mind on my part.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: verdana,geneva;">So I suppose I owe my blogging success to my children. And now, maybe you will too.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">As a result of some emotionally incendiary experience where you feel wronged, not valued, misunderstood, or crossed, you can often find your self on one wild ride of emotions.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">The Emotional Hangover: Your feelings can spike to new highs. You can feel turbo-charged with fury. You feel the blood coursing through your veins and throbbing at your temple. You are vibrating with anger, injustice and hurt at the maddening insensitivity, sheer stupidity, or blatant passivity that has been bestowed on you. <em>How could they?</em></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">And, before you know it, you are off again on the careening roller coaster of painful feelings&#8211;up and down, swinging widely to the left, twisting up, crisscrossing to the right, and zigzagging to a final, lurching stop. You start talking about it again and off you go, up, up and away in a fiery fury. <em>How could they?</em></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;"><strong>The Emotional Hangover:</strong> You spin round and round and round, until eventually you are spent. There is no more; simply the crumbling, white-ashed embers of a fire gone dead. You find yourself a rag mop. You are exhausted, drained, and totally depleted from the emotional highs and lows of your charged days. You have no energy; you feel like a truck has used your body for parallel parking practice. You are a pulverized mass of once-quivering emotions.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium; color: #800000;"><strong>This, dear reader, is an emotional hangover.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">There is no hair of the dog for the morning after. There is no specialized rehab. Copious amounts of water to hydrate your burned-out system are of little avail.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">If we want to live a more peaceful serene life today and tomorrow we certainly have to find a way to deal with the emotional hangover.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">So what does it require?</span></strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">It requires admitting and correcting your errors. A sincerely and thorough self inventory will need be to carefully taken.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">Once our inventory is carefully taken, we can make peace with ourselves, and be in a better state of overall harmony. We can place ourselves in the field of magnificent attraction.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;"><strong><em>1. Are you too emotionally attached to the outcome of the interaction? Do you have to win? Do you need to be right?</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">You know the expression: would you rather be right, or would you rather be happy? I can say, and I believe, that being right is overrated, but, boy, howdy, where I feel I am right, that’s Right with a capital R, it is very hard to let go and consider another viewpoint.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">It takes some emotional maturity to get off that high horse and to find common ground.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;"><strong><em>2. Is the emotional event the result of a power struggle or a need for control?</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">There is a saying that comes from sales: the one who cares the least has the most power. In other words, the more emotionally detached you are, the more you can see the big picture, be open to alternatives and respond with reason.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;"><strong><em>3. Did you create decent boundaries and clear parameters so that you protected yourself?</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">One of the tenets of good self esteem is the ability to be assertive. It is not always easy, but it is clearly important. Further, one of the tenets of effective communication is being able to state your needs clearly. Are you able to ask for what you need or say no without feeling guilty?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;"><strong><em>4. Are you aware of what buttons are being pushed?</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">There is that old therapy joke about the patient telling the psychiatrist that his mother was pushing all of his buttons. The psychiatrist responds, of course, she installed those buttons.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">Seriously, though, be it family, friends or astute observers of the human psyche, most of us can detect the soft, squishy places in one another. We are all more alike than we acknowledge. Are we feeling respected and heard? Are we being rejected or abandoned? Are we considered loveable? Are we worthy?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;"><strong><em>5. Are you willing to walk away, say no and choose not to engage in the tension?</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: verdana,geneva; font-size: medium;">There is always choice. Choice serves as the grace note to every interaction. You can choose to struggle, not fight, see it another way, speak your truth, state your case, agree to disagree and so forth.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> You see, these business owners are already using social media (or trying to, anyway). Most have read blogs or news articles, they have some fans or followers and they spend some time on a regular basis tweeting and posting on Facebook. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> All of this is great &#8211; I&#8217;ve made a lot of connections, I&#8217;ve learned a lot, but HOW exactly do I use this to grow my business? </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Does that sound about right to you? </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> I&#8217;m sure it does. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> &#8220;But, Sye, social media people say I&#8217;m not supposed to sell&#8230; it&#8217;s all about the relationships.  They say a sales pitch is like <a href="http://syewells.com/SocialMediaSuperstar" style=""  rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://syewells.com/SocialMediaSuperstar';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">social media</a> suicide. But now I have all these relationships, but no sales. So now what?&#8221; </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> The truth is while social media IS all about the relationships you must also find creative ways to sell your products and services. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Most people do one of two things: they either ONLY sell and are spammers, or they don&#8217;t sell so they aren&#8217;t a spammer. A good social media marketing mix has BOTH. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> When you develop relationships with your potential customers using social media channels, doing business with you naturally becomes an opportunity, or the next step. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Today, I&#8217;m going to share with you my system for developing relationships AND how to sell your products or services in social media to maximize your results. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> <strong>STEP ONE: FIND &amp; LISTEN</strong> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Listen is a buzzword you hear thrown around a lot lately &#8211; but what does it actually mean? </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Listening is about using social media as a tool to research what people are saying about a topic, right now. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Let&#8217;s say you want to open a toy store in your city and you want to know what people are saying about different brands of toys. Or let&#8217;s say you own a landscaping company and you want to know what difficulties people are having with lawn care. You can find out the answers to these and just about anything you can think of in social media. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> You do this by:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">searching keywords on twitter</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">reading consumer blogs</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">monitoring google alerts on the topic</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">participating in online forums</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">The idea here is to participate in social media as if you were your customer, not the business owner to find out exactly:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Where do your customers &#8216;hang out&#8217; online?</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">What do they talk about?</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">What do they need instead of what you are selling?</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">What are their problems and how can you help solve them?</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Now that you&#8217;ve found your customer and you&#8217;ve listened to them, it&#8217;s time to connect with them. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> <strong>STEP TWO: CONNECT</strong> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Connecting is either directly following or sending a connection request to literally connect your profile with the profile of your target customers. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Some types of people you might follow in addition to your target customer might be:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">experts in your industry</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">colleagues</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">people in your geographic area</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">related business, professional services</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">These are all people you can do business with in various ways, like:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">affiliate marketing</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">cross-sales &amp; upsells</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">joint ventures</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">referrals</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">I suggest you be selective to a degree, but don&#8217;t get hung up on this!  </span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>STEP THREE:  ORGANIZE</strong> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> It&#8217;s true, there is a lot of noise and garbage out there, and if you aren&#8217;t organizing your connections in social media, you&#8217;ll quickly get swept into it, and social media will become a time-management nightmare. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> As SOON as you connect with someone, you must organize that connection, using lists on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Typical ways I organize people:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Influencer, expert</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Type of lead</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Current customer</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Potential partner</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Geographic</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">The key here is to categorize the person you&#8217;ve connected with by their relationship to your business. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> This doesn&#8217;t just apply when you connect with others, remember it also applies when someone follows you or sends you a request. You should assess both whether or not to connect, and what the potential relationship that person has to your business and then organize them on the appropriate list. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Now, you have some context when you are spending time in social media: WHO are you talking to and WHY are you talking to them. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> In my opinion, this is the MOST CRITICAL step in social media that most people overlook. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> <strong>STEP FOUR: SHARE &amp; ENGAGE</strong> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> When you&#8217;ve done the leg work to know who you are engaging with to and why you are engaging with them, the time you spend in social media will be much more productive and useful. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> This part is the most natural part for people  &#8211; the talking part &#8211; which is why we tend to skip all the other steps and jump straight to it. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> People still ask me, what do I talk about?</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Share about yourself (you don&#8217;t have to share &#8220;private&#8221; things to share &#8220;personal&#8221; things)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">What are you doing right now? What inspires you? Makes you laugh?</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Ask thought provoking questions</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Share your best tips, tricks, and strategies</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Answer questions and be helpful</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Movies, music, and other interests</span></li>
