personal development 300x214 My Top 13 Personal Development BooksEver not brush your teeth, take a shower, drink water… in a day? If you have, how does that make you feel? Most likely…you feel like CRAP!

Personal development is like water, taking a shower, or brushing your teeth.. it is essential to life, to growth, to opening up the doors to endless possibilities.

No matter what you do, you must incorporate daily personal development into your life. If you have ever hung out in the personal development section of the major bookstores, you may have been overwhelmed with the extensive number of volumes related to the subject..

So, if you are a mother,or a father, personal development will assist you in becoming better as an individual, and help to enhance your relationship with your children.

If you are married or have a partner.. when both partners are engaged in personal development, the relationship is undoubtedly deeper, empowered, and full of more engagement  and when disputes arise, you will absolutely see a shortened time in recovery.

As an business owner, personal development is essential to your long term success! It will assist you in learning how to become better, create better solutions, dig deeper into your inner soul, and assist you in becoming more clued into your authentic passions .

I have yet to meet one successful entrepreneur that has not tapped into the power of personal development.. and honestly.. there are tons of great content out there.. so much so, that I feel like I will need to do a follow up version 2-100 of this list.

Our library is extensive, and ever growing. In my honest opinion, you can never have too much personal development. I am sure many of you have an extensive library as well.  So do share your favorites below.

One interesting fact that Jim Rohn shared with me, was that every home valued at over 300k has a library in it.. I would say, that is a clue!

So here is my first draft of my Top 13 Personal Development Books:

I would have to say that the one that stands out the most to me is Jim Rohn. I have returned to his stuff year after year, time after time.

Even one of my children could can still remember Jim’s phrase: “Don’t just get through the day — get *from* the day.”

Live. Learn. Grow. Influence.

Hey Sye – love your list of books here. I have also gone over and joined that group you suggested. It is becoming increasingly hard to keep up with all my reading so I now like to try to balance it out with using audio so I can listen to it when I’m walking. Great for clearing the mind.
I have a massive library here full on PD books, and I couldn’t believe I don’t have some that are on your list! Will be adding them this week, hope some come in audio form :-)
Awesome post, will be sure to share
cheers

Hi Sye,

you are what you read, so thank you for sharing this amazing list. I happen to write about my lessons from Robert Kiyosaki’s “Cashflow Quadrant” on my blog. When reading “The Cashflow Quadrant”, I was unable to follow my traditional S-quadrant business for a while because it violated the core values about working and money that were drummed into me. This book and a lot of others on your list are really awesome (for example “Rich Woman” and “The Slight Edge”).

Take care

Sye,

I recently finished Cash Flow Quadrant. Once I finished it, I brought my 9 year old son into my office and showed him the Quadrant.

That book changed how I view earning money, and has facilitated my current state of being psychologically unemployable. No more E Quadrant!

One audiobook I’m going through is Napoleon Hill’s “Law of Success in 17 Lessons”. I recommend picking that up with your next Personal Development purchase!

Personal Growth is the BOMB! Most of the books you have listed, I have read, except the books directed toward women. Though I am sure those would have some good nuggets for men also. Some of my favs,

Rich Dad Poor Dad – Robert Kiyosaki (Cashflow Quadrant as you listed rocks!)
Business of the 21st Century – Kiyosaki
The Magic Of Thinking Big – Dr. Schwartz
Think and Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill
The Ultimate Gift and The Ultimate Life

Currently reading The Millionaire Next Door and Centurion Principles.

Great post.

Hey Sye – I absolutely LOVE Crush It, that is something I totally run by in business. I have only read it in the past few months.

Other books I have here are pretty much all the Hicks books, Eckhart Tolle is another favourite, Rich Dad Poor Dad, and of course the Secret. I’m an avid reader of Think Big Magazine for those kinda down times when I want to read some personal development stuff but not up to anything real heavy if you know what I mean!

I do want to read Awaken The Giant Within, I have heard some great things about that book! But definitely Crush It has inspired me into everyday action!
cheers

Out of all Kiyosaki’s books, I like his first the best. It’s not “Rich Dad Poor Dad” but a lesser-known book called “If You Want to be Rich and Happy Don’t Go to School.”

It’s longer and more in depth than his later books, and is a really good examination of how the education system fails people.
