Still haven’t incorporated online video into your overall business marketing strategy? Even after yesterday’s blog post? Not very smart.
As a business owner in this day and age… you must know what your customers want. They want to see you and your demonstrations. They want to get to know you! Most of them, will not take the time to read everything you put out there.
As an entrepreneur or small business owner, you’ve probably invested plenty of time and effort into your website – but here’s something to consider for 2010: video. If you’re not already using online video in your marketing mix, you might want to consider it for these reasons:
1) Cost. Video is affordable and easy to produce. Whether you produce it yourself with an inexpensive video camera or contract it out, producing short videos for the web typically don’t need a lot of editing or fancy graphics to make them effective. Because it will be viewed online, this video doesn’t have to be top of the line in production quality.
2) Interest. Which would you prefer? Reading a page full of text on a website or clicking “play” on a short video? People tend to skim over websites and you only have a few minutes to make a great impression. Text alone won’t cut it. Most people would agree that they not only get a decent feel for the product they’re considering when watching a video, but probably more importantly, they get a good feel for the business itself. If a picture is worth a thousand words, imagine what a video can accomplish.
3) Competitive Advantage. Google a few of your keywords and see what happens. Most likely you’ve got some stiff competition. But how many of your competitors have video results that appear? Probably not many. This is a way for you to establish yourself with a competitive advantage in the ever-important online market.
4) Your customers. Assuming your customers use the internet at all, they’re most likely watching online video as well. According to research from Comscore , 76.8 percent of the total U.S. Internet audience viewed online video.
There are many ways to incorporate online video into your overall marketing strategy. We will discuss the 2 ABSOLUTE best ways tomorrow. So stay tuned!

Hi Sye,
I am one of those that is slow to get going with video…
Your article is a reminder to me about how important it is to keep up with what the readers of blogs work best with… I have to agree with you that reading a blog compared to watching it are 2 totally different experiences, so I will soon break down and buy the Camtasia video capture software to implement into my articles.
Thank You for this article about the importance of keeping up with technology and what the people want!

Hi Sye,
great article! I totally agree with what you said. Video marketing does take you to the next level. People today want to see faces and hear voices. And video allows you to build a solid relationship with your readers or with your customers and with other fellow marketers.
Since I’ve started using video marketing, things have changed completely. Visits to my blog increased and connecting with my blog readers is much more effective.
Moreover, images – hence video – speak more than a thousand words, don’t they?
To your unstoppable success

Hi Sye!
Such an important point you are making here, we can’t ignore video! It’s far more appealing to many, and if done right can be so awesome and powerful! I know I had one person tell me that she had ONLY watched my videos and had rarely read any of my posts! So I’ve not done a huge amount but have moved past my camera shyness at least a bit so now I just have to continue to move forward continuing to incorporate video into my strategies.
Thanks for a great article!

Incorporating video is a bit difficult for me at this time. But I do agree with what you have shared here. Perhaps I need to get over my cam shyness.
Hi John, Your Welcome! I can appreciate your honesty. Why do you feel that you are moving slowly with getting on board? It’s great to combine video with other types of marketing as well. What types of marketing are you currently implementing?

Hey Sye,
Happy New Year, long time no see. Awesome post, thanks for sharing. some people don’t realize just how much of an impact video marketing can have on their business. It truly allows people to absorb you and who you are instead of hiding behind text, emails etc. Video marketing is a huge part of my business. Let me ask you a question…How do you feel about posting old videos that may not have gotten a lot of views the first time but had great value? Thanks again

Hi Sye, Just came across your website AFTER watching your videos (searched through Google). You’re a great example of practicing what you preach and I especially love the point on how small businesses can outdo competitors’ SEO positions through video. Thank you
